The Opulent Temple :: the desert version of the Opel project.
The Opulent Temple is a San Francisco based Large Scale Sound and Art camp preparing for it’s 6th year on the playa. It was co-founded and is still organized by Opel founder Syd Gris. The mission of the Opulent Temple is to provide a space for sacred dance to world class music at Burning Man. The simplest distinction between Opel and Opulent Temple is that Opel is a commercial production company seeking to throw parties with purpose, while Opulent Temple is a non-profit Burning Man camp and community.
So….. Opel events are different than Opulent Temple events completely, both just happen to be organized by Syd. Make sense?
The Opulent Temple recently spent it’s 5th year on the playa, continuing it’s mission to bring peak experience to Black Rock City. Already having assembled an unprecedented line up of talent in the last 5 years who, like every DJ at Burningman, play for free, they are seeking to top themselves in 2008 with their diversity of talent and overall production.
Past notable guests on the decks in their famous flame throwing DJ booth ‘the O Pod’ include Tiesto, Stanton Warriors, Paul Oakenfold, Lee Coombs, Christopher Lawrence, Rabbit in the Moon, DJ Dan, Dylan Rhymes, Coburn, Hybrid, Sandra Collins, D:Fuse, The Scumfrog, Freq Nasty, Ali B, Tipper, Josh Gabriel (of Gabriel & Dresden), Bassnectar and others.
