Bio

True pioneers of a sound that broke all the rules back in 1998, Stanton Warriors took garage and twisted it beyond all recognition, dropping speaker shattering bass lines and massive beats…all to devastating effect. Stanton Warriors had arrived.

In 2001, Stanton Warriors laid down a fresh new sound with the seminal ‘Stanton Sessions’ that was instantly signed to XL Recordings. The mix saw off competition from Fat Boy Slim and Deep Dish to win Best Album at the Dance Star Awards, and again at the Muzik Mag Awards where they beat Dave Clarke and Danny Tenaglia, whilst the mix recently featured in Mixmags top 50 best compilations ever industry poll. ‘Stanton Sessions’ went on to become the biggest selling breaks album of all time – a feat as yet unsurpassed.

Overnight, Stanton Warriors became the hottest producers on the planet, and today they continue to stay at the very pinnacle of their profession. High profile remixes for such luminaries as Missy Elliot, Fat Boy Slim, Basement Jaxx, Mylo, Freeform Five, and Busta Rhymes amongst others constantly fill their diary, whilst their own original material continues to push the boundaries of musical excellence.

They are also incomparable when it comes to working with vocalists. In a scene renowned for instrumentals, Stanton Warriors have jetted around the world to record with vocal talents that include Big Daddy Kane, Twista and The Beatnuts, implementing house, electro, hip -hop and funk elements into their sound.

In 2006 Stanton Warriors signed their debut album ‘Lost Files’ to V2, becoming one of the first breaks act to sign to a major. Released to massive critical acclaim, ‘Lost Files’ received support from a variety of djs across a variety of different scenes, with major support from MTVand Pete Tong on Radio 1. The album was also play listed to Radio 1 & XFM daytime shows plus countless other stations around the world.

‘Stanton Sessions 2’ was released at the same time and was immediately voted ‘Album Of The Year’ on Annie Nightingale’s BBC Radio 1 Show., And this is not forgetting the request to mix Fabric’s milestone 30th compilation. Which was voted ‘Timeout Compilation Of The Year’ and ‘Breakspoll Compilation Of The Year’ respectively, with the mix ultimately became one of the fastest selling in the series.

Last year Skint Records brought together Dom and Mark’s killer versions of Gorillaz’ ‘Feel Good Inc’, Alter Ego’s legendary ‘Rocker’ and Azzido Da Bass’s ‘Dooms Night’ amongst a great deal more on ‘Remixes’. The compilation perfectly showcased the Stantons sound and made it clear why DJ Mag included them in their recent list of the ‘50 Best Remixers Of All Time’.

Their most recent accolades include their placing as Number 1 djs at Breakspoll and Number 1 breaks djs in DJ Magazines Top 100 for the past two years in a list awash with trance and house djs. The awards are testament to having played at every major festival and super club around the world – treading an international path that few djs can rival.

Stanton dj sets are famed for incorporating exclusive original tracks mixed with homemade edits / remixes of cutting edge sounds from underground house through to abstract hip hop and everything in between. It’s all blended into a melting pot of low down booty electro punkishness, and is continually reminding the world why Stanton Warriors have remained unrivalled in their genre for more than a decade.

Saturday, December 31st :: Opel NYE (!).

We’ve come around the party world with our NYE parties. From underground warehouses, to huge productions, to club gigs and kinky house parties. Our inclination this year after being part of the big Sea of Dreams show last year was a very community based, vibe centric, no hype joint to be with our friends and celebrate the new year with minimal hassles. So that’s the vision for this year’s Opel NYE gathering at Mission Rock. Super solid music from Lee Coombs (Thrust / Lot 49), J. Scott G (formerly of Deepsky) (Libra Rising / Shiznit – San Francisco/Austin) and Opel residents, Syd Gris, Dex Stakker + a full on opulent chill zone like we used to do back in the Radiance days with thick soft mats, furs, and pillows on the covered wooden deck hosted by the Ambient Mafia, with DJ Unagi (WoM, Ambient Mafia), Sneaky Hippie (Koinonea, Ambient Mafia), Stephanie Luz (WoM, Ambient Mafia), Brian Peek (Opulent Temple) our homies at Strategik wil be hosting the downstairs room with Influence (Strategik), Pirata (Strategik), Everett Wayne (Guerilla Bass/SWAG), Dr. Whiskers (Strategik/Dodo), Bill Samuels vs Jamie Lin (Strategik/Opulent Temple) , and a techno / tech house zone on the concrete outdoor deck (weather allowing) with Alain Octavo (Spundae), ELiKi (Frisco Fidget / Opulent Temple), Bruce Irving (Iron Fist, NYC).

We’re making this really easy and straight forward. No tiered pricing, no NYE price gouging, no wallet busting!

Tix are only $25 pre-sale, available now HERE

Mission Rock : 1871 China Basin Way (@ Mariposa, off 3rd st). 21+ 9pm-4am.

Opel Lovevolution After Party :: Love (Still) Rules with JELO

The Love is Coming !

Lovevolution is back, and as always, as from the first days Love came to SF in 2004, Opel is in the mix.
How can we not be? This event is so much more than just about 8 hours of dancing outside. The entire youth and dance music culture has grown in the last few years in the States to a level possibly never seen before. We’re at the cusp of taking our awesome community to a higher level of infusion into pop culture in ways that can only benefit our collective values. The event exists to spread a message of peace, justice, unity, respect, and of course Love. What other large event is so focused on that intention? Not many, not enough. Certainly dance music culture with it’s history of PLUR is best suited to carry that. But we’re being pushed back on and challenged in our right to peacefully assemble and dance. This event is a vehicle for the movement to stand up and be counted and show the skeptics we can get 30, 40, 50+ thousand people together in the shared beat of that universal vibe and have a problem free, and fun filled day and night. Standing up to be counted in this community is a great feeling and one of my favorite parts of the event.
So it is.
Opel will go big in the day with our float shared with our playa homies Opulent Temple.
By night we’re keeping it a family affair, with an intimate joint at Project One, with very special guest JELO.
9pm-2am
$10 cover

Meat Katie and the 7 Year Itch Release:
In 2004 Lot49 burst onto the music scene and brought with it a sound that incorporates Techno & Electro into Breakbeat & House. Although the label had been championing this sound for some time, it now had solid roots that it could call home. The sound was coined Tech-Funk and although it started off life as a hybrid it soon grabbed the attention of the bigger players within Dance music. Before long scene supremos such as Carl Cox, Laurent Garnier, Armin Van Burren, James Zabiela and many other eclectic Dj’s became key supporters of the label and it’s newly crafted sound.
The 7 year Itch album is a dirty ride through the underground that epitomises this sound with an array of international talent from all 4 corners of the world. 16 brand new exclusive tracks from label artists Dylan Rhymes, Meat Katie, Lee Coombs, Dopamine and Odissi and up and comers Hedflux, Atomic Drop, Chevy One, Maelstrom & more. Showcasing new talent is a huge part of the label ethos so it is not unusual that new and exciting talent such as Disco Bum from Canada and Lightknife from America have been included. All this wrapped up into an exceptional mix of quality you would expect by label boss Meat Katie.
2011 will see Lot 49 continue on its path of breaking new ground and continual bar raising in bringing new and upfront music!

Calvertron
(Twocker, Ministry Of Sound, Trouble & Bass, BugEyed, Household Management, www.myspace.com/calvertronica) — United Kingdom
Following a string of speaker rattling productions and highly acclaimed remixes, Alex Calver aka Calvertron has found himself the subject of attention of some of the most credible artists and record labels in the business. His tracks are consistently featured on the UK
