We’ve come around the party world with our NYE parties. From underground warehouses, to huge productions, to club gigs and kinky house parties. Our inclination this year after being part of the big Sea of Dreams show last year was a very community based, vibe centric, no hype joint to be with our friends and celebrate the new year with minimal hassles. So that’s the vision for this year’s Opel NYE gathering at Mission Rock. Super solid music from Lee Coombs (Thrust / Lot 49), J. Scott G (formerly of Deepsky) (Libra Rising / Shiznit – San Francisco/Austin) and Opel residents, Syd Gris, Dex Stakker + a full on opulent chill zone like we used to do back in the Radiance days with thick soft mats, furs, and pillows on the covered wooden deck hosted by the Ambient Mafia, with DJ Unagi (WoM, Ambient Mafia), Sneaky Hippie (Koinonea, Ambient Mafia), Stephanie Luz (WoM, Ambient Mafia), Brian Peek (Opulent Temple) our homies at Strategik wil be hosting the downstairs room with Influence (Strategik), Pirata (Strategik), Everett Wayne (Guerilla Bass/SWAG), Dr. Whiskers (Strategik/Dodo), Bill Samuels vs Jamie Lin (Strategik/Opulent Temple) , and a techno / tech house zone on the concrete outdoor deck (weather allowing) with Alain Octavo (Spundae), ELiKi (Frisco Fidget / Opulent Temple), Bruce Irving (Iron Fist, NYC).

The Love is Coming !

Lovevolution is back, and as always, as from the first days Love came to SF in 2004, Opel is in the mix.
How can we not be? This event is so much more than just about 8 hours of dancing outside. The entire youth and dance music culture has grown in the last few years in the States to a level possibly never seen before. We’re at the cusp of taking our awesome community to a higher level of infusion into pop culture in ways that can only benefit our collective values. The event exists to spread a message of peace, justice, unity, respect, and of course Love. What other large event is so focused on that intention? Not many, not enough. Certainly dance music culture with it’s history of PLUR is best suited to carry that. But we’re being pushed back on and challenged in our right to peacefully assemble and dance. This event is a vehicle for the movement to stand up and be counted and show the skeptics we can get 30, 40, 50+ thousand people together in the shared beat of that universal vibe and have a problem free, and fun filled day and night. Standing up to be counted in this community is a great feeling and one of my favorite parts of the event.
So it is.
Opel will go big in the day with our float shared with our playa homies Opulent Temple.
By night we’re keeping it a family affair, with an intimate joint at Project One, with very special guest JELO.

In 2004 Lot49 burst onto the music scene and brought with it a sound that incorporates Techno & Electro into Breakbeat & House. Although the label had been championing this sound for some time, it now had solid roots that it could call home. The sound was coined Tech-Funk and although it started off life as a hybrid it soon grabbed the attention of the bigger players within Dance music.
