This talented trio exploded onto the Bass Music scene in 2011 and quickly were favorited by artists like Skrillex, Kill the Noise, Feed Me, Reid Speed, and many other big names in the industry. Their distinctive bass-heavy sound and superior production skills landed them onto the top charting label, Play Me Records as well as remixes for a number of platinum recording artists.
TBMA Bio:

In 2011, The Bolivian Marching Affair (TBMA) stormed onto the electronic music scene, earning accolades from colleagues and critics alike. Emerging from Boston’s competitive music scene, seasoned musicians Joey Fisher, Kyle Meagher, and Chris Curran brought a unique mix of talents into the studio to forge a signature sound that has earned their tracks a place in the record crates of world famous artists like Skrillex, Kill The Noise, Feed Me, Modestep, Reid Speed, High Rankin and Dieselboy.

The Bolivian Marching Affair’s outstanding track production propelled their career, immediately grabbing the attention of legendary dubstep label Play Me Records. Their distinctive sound has set soundcloud and the blogosphere ablaze with remixes of platinum artists like Britney Spears, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Alice Deejay, and Kris Kross. With the release of their first EP ‘Are You Up For Getting Down,’ TBMA has become the group to watch, as their album rockets up on numerous online sales charts.

The group earned their reputation not just from hard work, but also a party hard attitude. Their crazy, crowd-engaging stage presence has earned them an intensely loyal fan base and relentless bookings, touring across the country. The energy of their performance is demonstrated by the artists they have shared the stage with, including Borgore, Mord Fustang, Terravita, Mt. Eden and many more.

If you missed them at Masquerotica this past October (and even if you didn’t miss them!), here’s a sweet chance to rock it with them at Mighty (with rumors of some serious club upgrades in the works, not that they need it, but always appreciated.) The Warriors =’s packed, hopping and happy dance floors. Mark your calendars for a can’t miss from Opel.

Opel presents Drum n Bass legend Aphrodite.

Though in our 11 years we’ve never done a proper drum n’ bass show, we’ve never had a chance to finally get Aphrodite in on a club gig either.

After 2 legendary sets at Opulent Temple in the last few years, and a killer set at the OT Treasure Island Massive last year, we’ve been itching to get him to a proper club show here to work his magic on a crowd of fans and fellow drum n bass skeptics alike. It’s accessible, rocking, fun, and not afraid to throw in some melody over those dirty bass lines.

Trust us that you don’t want to miss this rare treat.

We’ll also be rocking some breaks for you in the first half of the night so we’ll save the DnB for Aphrodite and closers. Electro house upstairs.

From Shanghai to Rio, UK to USA, Sydney to Cape town, Moscow to South Korea his travels are far reaching and is in constant demand to spread his own good strong dance vibe from clubs to large festivals

DJ PIERRE BIO:

Pierre’s importance to modern dance music can’t be overstated. Not many artists in the history of dance music can list Carl Cox, Diesel (X-Press 2), Junior Vasquez, Danny Tenaglia, Michael Mayer (Kompakt Records), Bob Sinclar, and Tom Stephan (Superchumbo) as fans. Not many can claim responsibility for helping kick start the careers of Felix Da Housecat and Roy Davis Jr. Not many can lay claim to giving birth to a genre (Acid House) and pioneering a sound that had the whole world dancing and imitating for over fifteen years.

As a founding member of Chicago group Phuture with Spanky and Herb J, the trio’s 1986 single ‘Acid Trax’ didn’t mark the first use of the Roland TB-303′s bass sound in dance music, but it did mark its most significant, setting a template for Acid House that Pierre and Phuture would develop on tracks like “Dream Girl” and “Your Only Friend”.

EXCLUSIVE INTERACTIVE ENVIRONMENTS BY:
Opulent Temple & OT Productions, DirtyBird, Raindance, Dax Presents, AnonEvents, Inflatable ArtsDetails: The apocalypse is coming and the end is near…. for the ancient Mayans at least. For the rest of us, the blessed few who inhabit San Francisco California in the 21st Century, the clock ticks, the calendar flips and the glorious madness continues. Certifiable event architects anonEvents and SunsetSF join forces to celebrate the start of the new Baktun with the wildest Sea of Dreams NYE production yet: LunaSea!

The West Coast’s premier NYE event goes on sale on Thursday, October 25 at 11:11am with its most over the top, visually artistic and theatrical lineup yet. The main “GalaxSea” Stage will feature international gypsy rock superstars GOGOL BORDELLO, playing their first San Francisco show in more than a year. Trailblazing electronic wizard SHPONGLE joins forces with phenom performance art troupe QUIXOTIC to debut the debut of SHPONGLE’s QUIXOTIC MASQUERADE. Bay Area rising stars DIEGO’s UMBRELLA will open the stage with an extended set of their patented gypsy-pirate-rock. “8-Bit Warrior” ROBERT DeLONG will close the set with his patented one man bang thang.

The “LunaSea” stage will open with none other than the 20+ piece REALISTIC ORCHESTRA, who will play two sets of their patented JAZZ MAFIA material featuring superstars like ADAM THEIS, JOE BAGALE and DUBLIN. The VAU DE VIRE SOCIETY is creating a unique and original theatrical production to bring in the New Year featuring aerial, circus, contortion, and dance choreographed to a live band. After the massive countdown, drop and toast, the soundtrack of the New Year will be composed by none other than legendary Danish EDM superstar TRENTEMOLLER with an exclusive Dj set, his first in San Francisco in many years. He will be followed by beloved SoCal innovators THE GLITCH MOB, who will play an exclusive extended after-hours DJ set of their patented midtempo lunacy. The stage will conclude with one of the rising stars of dance music, Los Angeles midtempo hero PUMPKIN.

As always at Sea of Dreams, the entire venue will be packed with spectacle and world class talent, and often the smaller stages will pack the largest punch. Case in point is the return of the OPULENT TEMPLE & OPEL EXPERIENCE, who present a unique audiovisual installation. Italian tech house hero PLAZA DE FUNK headlines the room joined by SunsetSF’s MOTION POTION and Opulent Temple wizards SYD GRIS, DULCE VITA, COSMIC SELECTOR, DEX STAKKER and DJ BRIAN WILLIAMS.

The Mezzanine stage will be engulfed in the sounds of the BASSCRAFT (VOID) SOUNDSUSYTEM where Sea of Dreams is thrilled to welcome back DIRTYBIRD RECORDS, RAINDANCE PRESENTS and DAX PRESENTS. In that state of the art soundscape, DirtyBird superstars CHRISTIAN MARTIN and WORTHY will be joined by Raindance/Nexus beatsmiths MOZAIC, LITTLE JOHN, DIGITAL HONEY, DAX and ANTACID.

The Concourse will be transformed into an immersive land of LunaSea, complete with multiple sound-systems, cabaret performers, circus performers, contortionists, balloon drops, confetti cannons and over 50 massive pieces of inflatable art. The Metrowize/Kinetic events box office team that have cut entry times down to brisk 15-minutes-max will be back for a repeat performance.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

GOGOL BORDELLO: Gogol Bordello is arguably the hardest working — and hardest rocking — group of our discordant new century, maintaining a touring schedule and an onstage energy level that would send the average combo running for the emergency room. While putting out several critically acclaimed Gypsy Punks and SUPER TARANTA! albums, the intrepid band has literally traversed even the farthest corners of the globe, building a substantial world-wide fan base via gigs and festival appearances throughout Eastern Europe, South America and the Middle East, along with stops in Australia, Western Europe and in their adopted U.S. homeland. Their encounters and adventures, as well as the band members’ own immigrant histories, fuel the subversively upbeat story-songs on Trans-Continental Hustle. Front-man and lyricist Eugene Hutz spins out scenarios that are, by turns, hilarious and heartbreaking — from the outsider experience of gypsies in his native Ukraine to the struggles and celebrations of Brazil’s favelas. It can be said that Gogol Bordello has been representing the voice of all minorities all at once, a voice that comes from a real, poetic and deep place. Along the way, Hutz looks for common threads while embracing each of his character’s defiantly unique identities, all of which reflect some facet of the frequently flying bandleader himself.

SHPONGLE’s QUIXOTIC MASQUERADE: Sea of Dreams is proud to present an exclusive exhibition featuring electronic music pioneer Shpongle and performance art troupe Quixotic. With over 80 years experience collectively Simon Posford and Raja Ram are more than qualified for the exploration into the unclassifiable music frontiers they have ventured into; ‘SHPONGLE’ is a new world of traditional sounds, acoustic guitars, Moroccan drums, Turkish operatic singing, cello, double bass, backing vocals and silver flute blended together with the computer wizardry of Simon Posford’s studio production. For Sea of Dreams, Shpongle’s wildly successful “Masquerade” audio-visual experience will be embellished by the addition of performance artists from Quixotic for a latenight main stage closing set that will redefine the term “Hallucinogen”.

THE GLITCH MOB (Exclusive DJ Set): Sea of Dreams is excited to welcome back some of the originators of the West Coast bass movement for an exclusive extended DJ set that will free these innovators to blow your minds. What started out as a partnership between friends, each sharing a similar and unique vision for the future of electronic music, has evolved into a kaleidoscopic sound that can only be described by referencing The Glitch Mob name. Selling out venues from coast to coast, the band quickly became a favorite at venues such as Coachella, Red Rocks, and Lollapalooza with their visceral, innovative performances that paired the best of dance music with the backbeat of hip-hop. With a sound that’s more of a constantly mutating concept, members edIT, Boreta, and Ooah delivered their first album release in 2010, Drink The Sea, and evoked a voyage into the unexpected – including sonic waters previously unexplored by the band itself.

TRENTEMOLLER (Exclusive DJ Set): There’s something blossoming in Denmark and it’s the music of Anders Trentemoller. Since putting out his first singles in 2005, the Danish producer and multi-instrumentalist has grown from a renowned electronic music wizard into a live bandleader and onstage impresario of world-class proportions. His studio production work is of the highest order, a fact that has seen him called on to remix the likes of Depeche Mode, Moby, Royksopp and Franz Ferdinand, for which he received a Grammy nomination. In recent years, his studio albums have incorporated more live instrumentation and his stage shows have become audiovisual spectacles. This penchant for the dramatic has seen him in front of huge crowds at Roskilde, Glastonberry, Melt, and Lowlands. His last three visits to San Francisco have been among the most highly well reviewed performances in recent memory, with sold-out fireworks at the Fillmore and Mezzanine. But it has been more than 5 years since Trentemoller has graced San Francisco with one of his patented DJ sets, and for this, Sea of Dreams rapt audience will pinch themselves for their good fortune.

ABOUT SEA of DREAMS: For the past 12 years, Sea of Dreams has been San Francisco’s most creative, spectacular, and lavish New Years event. Created by anonEvents, and co-produced by SunsetSF, the 2012 edition will be the most spectacular rendition to date. Over the years, Anon has made Sea of Dreams the perfect connection of high-end talent, top-tier performance-art and decor with underground energy. Drawing much of its inspiration from the Burning Man community, the vast majority of the audience comes in costume and the entire venue is crammed with art of all kinds. Past acts that have performed the event include Thievery Corporation, Santigold, Bassnectar String Cheese Incident, STS9, Ozomatli, Ghostland Observatory, Amon Tobin ISAM, Balkan Beat Box, the Yard Dogs Road Show, Modeselektor, The Dresden Dolls, Kinky, Brazillian Girls, Adam Freeland, Tipper, Random Rab, Freq Nasty.

More on Meat Katie & The Scumfrog below:

Meat Katie

South West londoner Mark Pember (AKA Meat Katie) has had a long history in Dance music. In his time he has recorded for such prestigious labels such as Wall of Sound, R&S Records , Kingsize, Bedrock, Perfecto, Great Stuff, Renaissance, Saw not to mention his first record deal, signed to Iggy pops Kill City Records (as a bass player in 3 piece skate punk band Sandladder). Pember has also remixed for / collaborated with Arthur Baker, U.N.K.L.E, Boy George, Deep Dish, D.Ramirez, Peace Division, Chicken Lips, Robbie Rivera & James Zabelia, to name but a few.

To date Pember has released three Meat Katie artist albums, Off the bone (1998), Long to belong (2000) & Vibrator (2006), all diverse in style and vibe but glued together by his techy and lo-fi feel’, he has worked with such vocalist as Kurt wagner from Nashville indie/country band Lambchop, garage/trash vocalist Holly Golightly, new york house legend roland Clark and UK Diva Katherine Ellis, in 2000 mark also made a one off alternative album ‘Never The Less’ under the name Avenue A, a collaborative project with Jason o’ Bryan co-producuer with the Dub pistols, it was this project that lead Mark to score the music for film adaptation of martin amis’ ‘Dead Babies’, an art house production by Gruber films (Shooting fish, waking ned), starring Paul Bettany.

Arguably its Marks work as a DJ that has really seen him shine, a world class performer with excellent technical ability and a great understanding of the dance-floor, he has built a reputation worldwide. Those who have seen him play will know that it is his diversity and energy that has earned him such respect, his toughTechy style, has seen him play across the globe alongside an eclectic group of DJs from Digitalism, Justice and Simian mobile disco, Soulwax and Erol Alkan, to Deep Dish, Steve Lawler, James Zabiela, Sasha & Digweed, Carl Cox, even Armand van buren & Marco V, and not forgetting some of the world’s top Breaks acts including, Plump DJ’s, Stanton Warriors. He’’s supported live acts such as Chemical brothers, Pendulum, Basement jaxx, Represent, and Infusion, and He even recently played on the Valve Soundsystem as one of the only non-Drum ‘n Bass DJs ever to do so.

It is these djing skills that have led him to compile and mix compilations for such land mark series such as, Bedrock breaks, Fabric live & most recently Sessions’ for Ministry of Sound, a very unique dj, over the years he has perfected a cross over of techno electro with a subtle break beat feel (better know as tech funk) in recent interviews mark described his own playing, when pressed about pigeon holing himself genre wise he replied “The only thing pigeon holes are good for…. is pigeons”, mark is living proof that taste is more important than simply following the crowd and bandwagon jumping.

Mark has also been working on an audio visual show along side VJ Anyone (currently rated No. 3 in the World) together they have taken their unique show to clubs such as `Fabric, Urban Gorilla, Technique and Festivals such as Glastonbury, Glade, and many more.

Not satisfied with being a world class dj producer the self confessed workaholic also found time to set up and run his own highly influence LOT49 imprint (with Dylan Rhymes, whom he also shares a studio with in south west london under the same name).

Lot 49 has without a doubt maintained a reputation as being a taste-making label, never shy to experiment with multi genres and with over 50 releases under its belt featuring artists such as, Dubfire , Audiojack, D Ramirez, Elite Force, Dexter, Phil Kieran, Lee Coombs, Robbie Rivera, Marco Bailey, James Talk, Alex Metric, Lutzenkirchen, Evil 9 and obviously Meat Katie & Dylan Rhymes, the Lot49 steamroller shows no sign of slowing down, it will celebrate its 7 year anniversary later this year with an exclusive label compilation CD/ with a an exclusive DVD documentary about the label and artists, a world tour is in the works for the 2nd quarter of this year.

The Future.
On a production level mark has been commissioned by Loopmasters to compile his 2nd sample pack for their prestigious ‘Artist series’ (alongside Deadmau5, Coldcut, 20/20 vision), and a 4 track Dj tools pack is almost finished which has also been commissiond by Loopmaster in conjunction with Beatport.

There is also a fourth Meat Katie artist album is in the pipeline and will see the light of day Late 2012

More about The Scumfrog:

Last year, The Scumfrog reunited with his underground roots in the custom-made DJ set “A Place Where We Belong”. 12 new tracks, tailor made for the perfect DJ set. The individual tracks were released by various prestigious labels such Armin Van Buuren’s Armada, Umek’s 1605, Prok & Fitch’s Floorplay, Mason’s Animal Language, and others. Halloween marks the official release of The Scumfrog’s long awaited project with Sting. Since the beginning of DJ culture, Sting has been the voice of sampling-choice for many producers, and new bootleg versions of his popular songs still surface at an ever constant rate. But an official Dance Music release baring the 16-time Grammy Award winner’s name is rare. Last year, however, The Scumfrog received approval to remake “If I Ever Lose My Faith In You,” and the amazing result of this long awaited project is finally here.

The Scumfrog (aka Jesse Houk) is mostly known for his underground flavored remixes of artists like Missy Elliott, New Order, Kylie Minogue, and Annie Lennox, and his collaborations writing/producing techno oriented works with David Bowie and Cyndi Lauper. With his versions of “If I Ever Lose My Faith,” The Scumfrog has returned to his deep house roots, while still giving the main vocal mix his signature mass appeal. A new Scumfrog album celebrating the deeper and techier side of Dance Music is due later this year on Armada Music.

As a DJ, he has toured the world many times over, and since 2009 he hosts a weekly radio show/podcast Glam Scum International.https://www.facebook.com/ScumfrogArtist
