New Syd Gris Set for Download : Just This Moment. Syd recorded his set at Mighty on 8-2-08. Hit the image link to download. My goal for this set was to play all music I had never played out before, so 14 of the 16 tracks on here I had just gotten. As a live set of this kind, it's a bit unpolished and the programming a little uneven, but if you're looking for new music, here's one moment in Syd's play list. Music by Lee Coombs, the Rogue Element, the Death Kit, Tim Healey, Miles Dyson, Slyde, etc... Let me know what you think, hit me up for a track listing.

Friday, September 12th. Opel & Spundae presents Lee Coombs (Lot 49 / leecoombs.com, UK). On tour for his new Lot 49 mix comp release, we bring Lee back for what is always a top flight night of music. Opening and closing set by Syd Gris (Opel / Opulent Temple). Future music will be found now, and it will be found at a different venue than we usually see Lee, at the phat system of Ruby Skye. 420 Mason St. 9pm-4:00am+ Don't be scared.

Saturday, October 4th. Opel @ San Francisco LoveFest (!). Opel takes to the streets once again for America's biggest dance event and one of the funnest days in San Francisco there is to be had. Now in it's 5th year, SF LoveFest continues to grow and blossom into an amazing day of dance music unity. And of course, we will be there to add our flavor to the day. The Opel float will find it's way to our spot in front of City Hall, and we'll do a rocking after party once again at Temple. Our guests for the weekend include tech funk master, the mighty Elite Force (Lot 49 / U & A Recordings , UK), joined by breaks powerhouse Vandal (Lot 49, UK), making his U.S. debut!! Joined of course by Opel residents Syd Gris, Hoj, Melyss, and Dex Stakker. After party also includes Vinkalmann, Worthy, Scott Carrelli, Icon, Erik Rumors. Much more tba.

Friday, October 31st - Halloween (!) Opel presents our annual Halloween Supa-Bash : Night of the Living Bass. The city's favorite holiday falls on a Friday night, and you know what that means - madness of the best kind. We love this party and go all out with the production and the line up. This year featuring a powerhouse double dose of wicked beats, with none other than Meat Katie (Lot 49, meatkatie.com), joined by The Rogue Element (Exceptional Records, UK). Wow is right. I was asked recently what I thought the world would be like in 100 years. The question was meant to solicit if I am an optimist or a pessimist.
The fact is that I am neither an optimist nor am I a pessimist. I am an ecologist which means that I view the world through the eyes of the laws of ecology and I try to do so as objectively as possible. I have faith in the laws of ecology, and I believe that these laws will ensure that the planet takes care of itself for billions of years more as it has for a few billion years already.
I actually find all the hysteria over global warming and climate change to be somewhat amusing. As an environmentalist I was speaking and writing about this problem thirty years ago. Of course my opinions were dismissed then as were other voices of ecological realism.
It just made sense to me back then that if we pump carbon into the atmosphere in the volumes we have been doing for over a century that there would be serious ecological consequences.

We Returned, we Rejoiced, we Rocked it ! |
We at Opel just wanted to say a resounding thanks to all of you who came out this past Saturday and made Infuse: The Return as special as we hoped it would be. So many faces from years ago, we're very grateful, warm and fuzzy you guys came out. Wish we had more time to spend with you! And lots of new face as well, we hope you come back for more.
Thanks to all the dj's who brought it and those of you who lasted until the sunrise and breakfast!
Opel will be lying low for the rest of the summer, wish we could say we were resting from this epic weekend, but instead, we're instead gearing up for our sister community's annual project at Burning Man - the Opulent Temple.
We'll see you next at SF LoveFest!
